Hello, thanks for coming back today. This is my first update on our journey with baby Kai. My first post is HERE and will give you all the details how this journey started.
The last post I talked about how I had amniocentesis scheduled. I had my appointment and it was super easy for me. I was quite nervous because there is a percentage of miscarriage with this procedure, and also they are inserting a needle into your stomach to get the amniotic fluid. The procedure took all of about 5 minutes to complete. It went a lot better than I expected, so that was great. The only thing about this procedure that I hated was the waiting. It took two weeks for one test and about a month for the second results.
With these results I am super excited to say that the results were normal. There were no Chromosome or Genetic problems were shown. Now that these results came back it is great news! There is another test that is more invasive that can be done but it is not recommended because it is usually not covered by the insurance. They also mentioned that once the baby is born that more test are run at that time. I have asked to see if insurance does cover this test but if not then I am perfectly okay with that. I am just so glad that these results came back negative, but still no answers as to what has cause the Omphalocele or the Cystic Hygroma. So for now I see the specialist every four weeks so they can take lots of ultrasound pictures of the baby and how he develops and the measurements of the ongoing problems.
I also found out on my last ultrasound that there is now a small amount of fluid by Kai’s heart. They said it is nothing to worry about at the moment but that they are going to monitor this with the ultrasounds as well. We hope for that fluid to not grow more because if it does then that could cause strain on his heart. So for now we pray that this fluid stays small and does not grow.
I am now almost 22 weeks which is insane because time is going by. I can now feel Kai moving around in there and that is so amazing to be able to feel that. I just want to thank you all for stopping by and following along with us on this journey. If you are going through this or know anyone who is feel free to message me.
