Happy Wednesday you all 🙂
In honor of breastfeeding week being last week & today marks 9 months of exclusively breastfeeding I am dedicating this post to me!
I DID it. It has been a rough ride the first few weeks & then getting mastitis made it rough. which I will talk about that later down the post.
When I was pregnant the first time around with Camille I was young I didn’t know anything but I tried breastfeeding. I was so exhausted and not ready for that venture. It lasted around 2 months and I just remember crying and telling my mom give her formula because I was so tired and couldn’t do it. I wasn’t ashamed of myself or anything I am glad that I tried especially being a young mother and having no clue on how to do the whole parent thing. Now that I look back on it I applaud myself.
When I got pregnant with Sammy I knew right away that I wanted to breastfeed. I wanted to do research on the baby products and everything natural or organic for him. I just wanted to try and be better this time around. My first goal was to make it to 6 months but once I met him and I started to get the hang of it I knew I had to go for as long as I can.
Here we were at 9 months and going strong. Happy 9 months Baby Sammy 🙂 I am super thankful that I didn’t have any serious problems in this journey. At first he had latching problems the first few days but we fixed it pretty fast. Then in the first month I got mastitis, and let me say it was rough because I knew I had to keep feeding even through the pain. I made it through and didn’t give up. So after that it has been great. I have loved all of it. I am super proud that I have accomplished 9 months.
Now that he is older he is much more mobile when he eats he is distracted even more and moving around and he is a big boy! He is about 25 pounds and wearing 18 month clothes lol. When I feed him I talk to him he laughs at me and stares. He loves moving around, I get fingers in my mouth, in my nose, lol. He pulls my hair and just is a squirmy little bean! I love it though, these are those moments that I enjoy.
I do not have an end goal, my goal is just to keep providing him with breast milk until he does not want to drink it anymore. I am going to stop actually feeding him from me and exclusively pump when he turns 1. We should see how that actually works.
Thank you all for stopping by it means the world to me.
Love this post. Thank you so much!!!
Congrats on BFing for 9 months! Mastitis is really rough. I’ve had it twice and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Great post!
Yay! Good for you! I know it is a lot of work, but it’s so rewarding.
Congratulations!!! And good for you! I know reaching those monthly milestones are such a great achievement.
You are super mom! Congratulations on making it 9 months! xoxo
you go mama!!! Isn’t it the best feeling ever to set a milestone and keep going right past it? I set the goal of a year to EBF and here I am almost 15 months later still going!
Wow that’s so awesome!! Go you!
Great job mama! I just started breastfeeding- it’s been a week and my nipples are so sore I want to cry. But I know this is best for my son so I’m going to keep trying! I got mastitis with second daughter and it was THE worst pain. Good for you that you toughened it out.
Way to go mama!! Be proud of yourself!!
