Hey yall, I am so excited to be here today for this blog post. Writing this blog post from a hospital room with my son who was admitted last week for his major surgery to correct his Omphalocele. You can read about his journey HERE. Then you can find us on facebook for more updated post.
That being said I have learned that taking care of myself is just as important as taking care of family. I am mostly a stay at home mom and get to do all my work from home. While I am home I am also taking care of the kids and of course all the house things. Having our youngest child that has had a lot happen in his first three years of life made things a bit more difficult. During the first year I feel like I did a whole lot for everyone else and nothing for me. I kind of forgot my identity & who I was because I was so worried about my son & everyone else and didn’t take care of myself. Finally one day I just said I need something for me I need to make the time to relax. I just needed to become Stephanie again and not just caretaker.

Now onto the best part. Finding something that I loved doing and that helped me relax and was self care for me. Baths are on of my favorite things to do so I have committed to now taking them at least once a week. I have been loving using bath salts for a more relaxing time and the extra benefits of them as well. I even went to a great Co-op to get all the ingredients to make my own bath salt soak. It has since intrigued me into the journey of becoming an herbalist. I will be studying over the next few months self taught as well as online courses to my journey to starting my own shop. These bath salts I made on my own and I am going to share the recipe soon. I will link below some that are clean below.
With the bath I also use a good scrub. My favorite is from Beautycounter, the Sugarbuff Body Polish in Lemograss. There are a few others that I want to try so in the future I will try them. After I finish with my bath I have to rinse off and when I am done I like to use a nice lotion or body oil. Right now I am using a Beautycounter oil that was from the holiday line last year but there is a a great one that is in the permanent line Luminous Hydration Body Oil in Citrus Rosemary. I will link below some other lotions and oils that would be great as well.
My second favorite thing to do is go to my favorite store Target or The Container Store. It is probably not always the best because they both are just so awesome, and they like to take my money haha. I love to just relax and browse walk around and look for good deals. If I take my time and really look for stuff there is always good deals.
if you have a favorite store its always fun to go and get something that makes me happy. It is always good to give yourself a budget though just incase you don’t overdo it.
Last but not least I like to get a good book and read. I am mostly into non fiction and cook books. Also right now I am getting a few good books to help with my studies for herbalism. You can find good books at your local book store. I love going to Barnes & Noble. I could get lost in that store because just so many books to look for and buy.
These are some of my top things that are helpful to my self care. Everyone needs some time to themselves. It is extremely beneficial to me and how I interact with my family at home. What are some of your favorite self care things to do? Thank you all for coming and checking out this little space of mine that I love sharing with you all.
